Ruth,

Have you consulted "Directory of Deceased American Physicians 1804-1929: a genealogical guide to over 149,000 medical practitioners provideing brief biographical sketches drawn from the American Medical Association’s Deceased Physician Masterfile"? I found this book just this week in the CGS library and found my John Campbell FLEMING. His entry included his death date and a vol. and page number for his obituary in JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association)! Who knew they used to print obits?! I believe that I have seen a FHL microfilm for this book or something similar.

Kathryn
